Next month, a former Austin teacher is expected to go on trial — accused of sexual assault. Alfredo Andrade-Gaytan’s next court date is Jan. 15. Police say he abused a 6-year-old student at summer school. Since then, four other allegations have surfaced.
In late June, Austin Independent School District police served Andrade-Gaytan with a fourth charge alleging inappropriate behavior with a child while at an AISD school. Andrade-Gaytan was served with the warrant as he sat in the Travis County Jail. According to the arrest warrant for the latest charge, indecency with a child by exposure, a victim came forward following his initial arrest on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child. Police say the victim was a student in his class at Walnut Creek Elementary School between September and December 2013.
The arrest affidavit says Andrade-Gaytan turned off his classroom lights and called a 5-year-old girl up to his desk. The girl told investigators he pulled down her pants and underwear and touched her inappropriately. The girl told investigators she told her teacher she didn’t like it and wanted to go back to her desk like everybody else. Investigators say the girl didn’t tell her parents because Andrade-Gaytan told her not to.
