An inmate accused of attacking and sexually assaulting a teacher at an Arizona prison was serving a 20-year sentence for a conviction of sexual assault and kidnapping in 2013, records show.
Jacob Harvey, 20, is under investigation for the attack in which a teacher was stabbed with a pen and sexually assaulted on Thursday morning at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Eyeman in Florence, according to a corrections statement issued Friday afternoon.
None of the woman’s injuries were life threatening, the statement said. The victim is a teacher in the Correctional Education Program and was assaulted inside a classroom.
The investigation is currently ongoing and the Department of Corrections is recommending that the inmate suspect be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible.
Harvey was convicted on charges of sexual assault and kidnapping last March.
