A high school teacher in Airdrie is accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old female student.
The 36-year-old male teacher has been charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual exploitation.
RCMP Insp. Tony Hamori said the married teacher and student had an ongoing relationship for several months.
“He does have young children of his own and we do not want to release the name for concern that the children are going to be harassed or bullied over this particular matter.”
The principal of the high school published a letter to parents of students and said that the teacher has been suspended.
