A former teacher is going to prison on charges of sexually assaulting a teenage girl several times during a period of two years.
Judge Layne Walker sentenced Timothy Verdon to 15 years in prison on a charge of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student. He pled guilty in March and agreed to the sentence. Verdon could have received up to 20 years.
The 51 year old defendant was an 8th grade history teacher at Hamshire Fannett Middle School.
Prosecutors say in 2008 he met a girl. She was 15.
According to investigators, he had sex with her at a motel several times in the course of two years.
