Jammu and Kashmir police have booked a government school teacher for allegedly trying to sexually assault a teenage student Varmul district, an official said.
A police official said Biology teacher Muhammad Irfan Khan posted at Government Higher Secondary School Sherabad Khor in Pattan called a 9th class girl student to the classroom during the lunch break. “The staff members and students were shocked when they heard screams of the girl student. They ran towards the class and found the girl student weeping,” the official said, adding that the girl student alleged that the teacher tried to sexually assault her.
Reports said that parents of the victim approached police and lodged a formal case against the accused teacher. The accused teacher was reportedly thrashed by locals and taken to police station on Monday. “We have arrested the accused teacher and a case vide FIR number 198/2014 under section 354A has been registered against him,” the official said.
Teachers Forum Pattan Zone while condemning the action of accused teacher demanded stern action against him. The forum said that such teachers are the source of disgrace for the sacred education institution.
