A former substitute teacher at several Helena elementary schools has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for receiving child pornography.
A U.S. marshal took 34-year-old Jason Carrick into custody after his sentencing Tuesday.
Federal prosecutors alleged Carrick downloaded about 117 suspected child pornography files in September and October, including images of men sexually assaulting young girls. He was arrested in November.
Further examination of his computer revealed 534 images and of child pornography and 208 videos.
Helena school officials said Carrick was hired last October to work on the playgrounds and assist teachers at Four Georgians Elementary. He also served as a substitute teacher at Four Georgians and three other elementary schools.
School officials say a background check found Carrick did not have a police record.
