A trial date has been set for the Delta Secondary teacher charge with sexual assault.
Robin Wait was in court Monday where a pre-trial conference was set for next month and the trial was scheduled for later in August.
Wait was charged with two counts of sexual interference of a person under 16 and two counts of sexual assault after two separate incidents at the school.
Police were called to the Ladner high school early last November after a young girl reported that she had been assaulted by an unknown adult near the school gym.
After launching an investigation into the allegations, police arrested Wait on Nov. 6.
Delta police spokesperson Const. Ciaran Feenan said the second incident, which prompted the second set of charges, came to light during the initial investigation.
Wait has been released on bail on a number of conditions including no contact with the victims or any witnesses, and that he not seek, obtain or continue any employment, or volunteer, in a capacity that involves being in a position of trust or authority of anyone under the age of 16.
Wait is currently suspended without pay, said Delta school district spokesperson Deneka Michaud.
Michaud said that the district will conduct its own internal investigation of the matter once the criminal proceedings have concluded.
