A teacher’s aide at North Brunswick Township High School (NBTHS) has been charged with sexually assaulting two minors.
DerrickWeeks, 34, of North Oaks Boulevard, was charged on May 11 with the aggravated sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual contact of a 15-year-old girl, and was charged with committing an aggravated sexual assault and a sexual assault upon a 6- year-old girl, according to a press release from Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and North Brunswick Police Director Kenneth P. McCormick.
Weeks was also charged with endangering the welfare of both minors.
Weeks, who is employed as a special education aide at the school, was charged following an investigation by Investigator Jeffrey Maroccia and Investigator Andreea Capraru, both of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, and Detective Seeta Jones of the North Brunswick Police Department.
The victims were not known to Weeks through the North Brunswick schools, and the charges do not stem from his duties at the high school. He was suspended from his job following his arrest, the press release said.
Following the investigation, it was determined that Weeks allegedly sexually assaulted the 15-year-old girl on numerous occasions between January 2011 and the summer of 2011, and sexually assaulted the 6-year-old girl on April 28, 2012. The investigation began after the mother of one of the victims contacted police.
Weeks is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick on $300,000 bail.
