State police say a female student at Freeport Area High School who allegedly was sexually assaulted by a teacher has told police that no such incident occurred.
State police said the male teacher was accused of sexual assault of an 18-year-old girl between August 2014 and January, according to a news release issued Tuesday.
However, the girl told state troopers she was not sexually assaulted, state police said. Police were unable to substantiate the accusation through other interviews.
Buffalo Township launched the initial investigation, but turned it over to state police after determining the possible location of the alleged assault was in South Buffalo Township.
The teacher was removed from the classroom pending the results of the law enforcement investigation.
District officials said Tuesday that the teacher remains on leave.
District Superintendent Chris DeVivo said he was unaware of the state police news release.
“The teacher as of right now isn’t back in the classroom,” he said.
