Teacher accused of having sex with student, 15, and secretly videotaping another

A middle school teacher had sex with a 15-year-old student and secretly videotaped another, it is claimed.

Almarcus Dwayne Thomas, 42, a teacher at Tucker Middle School, DeKalb County, has been charged with statutory rape and molestation. He is being held without bond.

A spokesman for the school said the father of a 15-year-old girl contacted them in December claiming Thomas was having inappropriate sexual contact with his daughter.

The school immediately removed Thomas from the classroom and he was placed on paid leave while detectives investigated the claims.

According to the charges, Thomas is accused of having sexual contact with the 15-year old student at school and also at her home.

He’s also accused of secretly making ‘inappropriate’ videos of second student on school grounds.

A laptop computer retrieved form Thomas’ Lithonia home was found to contain inappropriate sexual images.

The school spokesman said: ‘These are just allegations at this point.

‘But we have to act on the side of the children and make sure that we’re taking precautions to make sure these children are safe.’

Yesterday parents told of their horror at learning of Thomas’ arrest.

Manna Samuel, the parent of a sixth grade student at the school, told WSBTV: ‘We just received the letter yesterday,’ said , the parent of a sixth-grader.

‘I was just shocked.  I mean, that’s the safest place you send your kids, and it’s just shocking.  But I love Tucker Middle School, and I’m going to just pray.’

According to neighbors Thomas’ is married two children. He was described as a ‘stand-up guy’ who could always counted on when needed.

He will remain in the DeKalb County Jail until he can be tried in the superior court.
