The trial for a former Regina high school teacher charged with sexual assault began on Monday. Corey Matthews has pleaded not guilty to sexual assault and sexual exploitation.
Monday morning, Nancy Buisson, former principal at Scott Collegiate testified that Matthews worked hard at establishing relationships with his students. She described him as more of a “relationships person”.
The charges relate back to alleged assaults on students in 2006 and 2007. Matthews was first arrested back in 2010.
An earlier trial for Matthews was cancelled after the crown dropped eight charges and stayed another six because there was no reasonable likelihood of conviction.
