A Port Hueneme teacher was arrested on November 20 for two counts of sexual assault on a child committed in Texas. In October, Oxnard police detectives began providing assistance in a Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) investigation into Jason Griego, 38, a Port Hueneme man who taught 7th and 8th grade math at St. Anthony’s School in Oxnard.
Detectives had previously received information about Griego indicating possible involvement in lewd acts with minors, police said.
A search warrant was obtained for Griego’s person, vehicle and classroom. Sufficient evidence was found that allowed a Texas police department to issue an arrest warrant for Griego on two counts of aggravated sexual assault on a child committed in Texas between 2008 and 2011.
Griego was arrested in Alameda on November 20 and was held without bail pending extradition to Texas.
No victims from Ventura County were identified. The investigation was ongoing.
Oxnard police, Ventura County District Attorney’s Office investigators and NCIS special agents were part of the investigation.
