A court hearing to determine whether a Grand Ledge High School teacher will stand trial on charges stemming from his alleged sexual abuse of two students is scheduled to begin Monday afternoon.

Jason Algra, 32, is set to appear in Eaton County District Court for preliminary examination at 2:30 p.m. In June, he was charged with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and five counts in the third degree.
Algra allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a student at least 13 years old but younger than 16 and a student at least 16 years old but younger than 18, court records show. Both victims are males.
Algra teaches science at Grand Ledge High School and served as swim team coach until October. He has been placed on administrative leave from the district.

Check back later for more from the court proceeding.
