According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, GBI agents were requested by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office to serve warrants for a teacher at Wayne County High School.
Fleur Jean Ruley, 43, was charged with one count of false statements and one count of sexual assault. The victim was a 17-year-old student.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said on Wednesday that Ruley was booked Monday, Oct. 20 just after 10:30 a.m. They say she is still in jail at the Wayne County Detention Center.
Bond was set for Ruley for a $15,000 property bond; $5,000 for the sexual assault charge and $10,000 for false statements.
The GBI Kingsland Bureau is handling the investigation.
Wayne County High School Principal Bo Adams released this statement:
“Wayne County High School administration received information of an alleged possible inappropriate relationship between a student of WCHS and a teacher at WCHS; In accordance with local and state protocol, an investigation must be conducted within 24 hours. I immediately launched an investigation into the matter and reported this information to the superintendent of Wayne County Schools and to the proper authorities. Upon further investigation, I removed the teacher from the classroom, and she submitted a resignation pending Board approval. The investigation has now been turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.”
