A summer school teacher was arrested Friday after admitting to police about sexually assaulting a child. Alfredo Andrade-Gaytan, 33, is being charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to AISD officials. At a press conference Saturday morning, officials explained the incident that occurred at Reilly Elementary on June 11.
Andrade-Gaytan was teaching summer school at Reilly that day when he dismissed the students to recess but kept a 6 year-old female behind and allegedly sexually assaulted her in the classroom.
The child told a parent about what happened and was taken to Dell Children’s Medical Center. When confronted by officials, Andrade-Gaytan initially refused to cooperate but eventually admitted to the assault. The child was reported to be uninjured. Andrade-Gaytan normally worked at Walnut Creek Elementary School during the school year. A parent meeting will be held at Reilly Elementary on Monday June 16 at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. and at Walnut Creek Elementary on Tuesday June 17 at 6 p.m.
Andrade-Gaytan is being held in Travis County Jail and has a $50,000 bond.
