A former teacher has been charged as part of a probe into historical child sexual abuse at an Oldham primary school. Anthony Kerr (70), of Netherlees, Oldham, has been charged with 10 counts of sexual assault. He was due to appear at Oldham Magistrates’ Court today.
The investigation relates to the sexual assault of two boys during their time at St Martin’s Primary School in Fitton Hill.
The offences in relation to one boy occurred between September 1979-July 1980, and for the second boy from September 1982-July 1983. The boys were aged between seven and nine at the time of the offences.
DC Richard Mills, from Greater Manchester Police, said: “I want to reassure local residents, and more importantly parents of children currently at St Martin’s, that these are historical incidents.
“The allegations are very serious and we are conducting a full and thorough investigation.”
