Fake degree teacher in Madhya Pradesh facing blackmail and stress

Fake Degree Teacher in Madhya Pradesh Ends Life After Blackmail: RTI Activist Arrested

In a disturbing case from Madhya Pradesh, a fake degree teacher allegedly driven to suicide has sparked widespread concern. Rajesh Tripathi, a primary school teacher in Damoh district, ended his life after facing blackmail over his allegedly fake teaching credentials. The incident raises serious questions about the prevalence of fake degree teachers in Madhya Pradesh and the importance of thorough background verification.

🔍 RTI Activist Turns Accused in Teacher Suicide Case

On May 15, in Hatta town (Damoh), teacher Rajesh Tripathi immolated himself and later succumbed to his injuries. He was allegedly being blackmailed by RTI activist Jitendra, who accused him of using a fake BEd degree to secure a government job.

Instead of reporting the matter officially, Jitendra allegedly extorted between ₹7–10 lakhs from Tripathi over time. According to Damoh SP Shrutkirti Somwanshi, the activist had recently begun demanding half of Tripathi’s salary every month.

💸 Financial Stress and Extortion Led to Tragedy

Tripathi was already under immense pressure — burdened with ₹50 lakh in debt due to a home construction loan and facing job insecurity due to degree allegations. The psychological toll and fear of termination ultimately pushed him toward self-immolation.

The RTI activist has now been arrested and booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections for abetment to suicide and mental harassment.

⚠️ Fake Degree Teacher Scam Exposed in Damoh

This is not an isolated case. After Tripathi’s death, over 20 government teachers in Damoh were dismissed following an investigation that revealed they too had used fraudulent degrees to gain employment.

This incident has exposed the deep-rooted issue of fake degree teachers in Madhya Pradesh, and the misuse of RTI laws for personal gain.

✅ Why Background Verification Is Crucial Before Hiring Teachers

Whether hiring for schools, coaching centers, or private tuition, background verification of teachers is no longer optional — it’s essential. Fake degrees not only risk student learning but can also lead to legal, financial, and emotional consequences.
