Bartow County School System Public Relations Specialist Cheree Dye on Thursday afternoon said the school system is cooperating with authorities after a Cass High School teacher was arrested Wednesday.
“”The Bartow County School System was informed of inappropriate conduct by employee Chad Clift on Monday, 1/26/15. Upon receipt, the system addressed the issue and Mr. Clift tendered his resignation effective immediately, 1/26/15,” the system said in a statement.
Clift, a language arts teacher at Cass High School, according to the system’s website, was arrested Wednesday by Bartow County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the jail on one count of sexual assault.
A source said Clift, 41, was accused of having sex with a student. The alleged act did not occur on school property.
The Daily Tribune News is expecting information from the BCSO later this afternoon.
