Former MHS teacher sentenced for sexual assault of child, improper relationship

A former Memorial High School educator has been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between an educator and student.

Kip McFarland was sentenced on Monday in the Drug Impact Court with Judge Larry Gist presiding, Christy DeRouen, court coordinator, said.

The former educator has been a familiar name around southeast Texas since the mid-1990’s, according to an archive story that ran in the Orange Leader. He has been employed as a teacher and coach at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School form August 1995 to May 1997.

He then went to Nederland High School and later coached at Orangefield High School. His last education job was at Port Arthur Memorial High School.
