A 29-year-old former Broward teacher was arrested Monday and accused of having sexual relations with a 17-year-old former student, according to court records.

Daniel Ojst was charged with sexual assault involving a minor. Bond was set at $5,000 in court on Tuesday and he was released from the Broward County Jail, records showed.

The relationship allegedly began in September. Ojst met with the teenage girl around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 6 and the two engaged in sexual activity in a car before he dropped her off at her home, court records stated.

In January 2010, Ojst was hired as a math teacher at Northeast High School in Oakland Park but he was laid off six months later and then rehired as a substitute teacher in August of that year, according to the Broward School District.
