London, August 12 (IANS) A special needs schoolteacher in the US has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a former student half her age.
Kelly McKenzy Watson, 34, met the boy, 17, as a teacher at the residential New Haven Youth and Family Services, in Los Angeles, working with emotionally disturbed boys.
She worked there between September 2010 to August 2011 and was later transferred to Oceanside High School. But following the sexual assault accusations, she has been suspended, Daily Mail reported.
Sex Crimes detectives in San Diego were tipped off about possible inappropriate sexual conduct between Watson and the boy July 30. She was arrested Thursday morning.
She faces charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
