A New Jersey high school teacher and track coach accused of sexually assaulting a student in 2006 turned himself into authorities Thursday, prosecutors said.

King Jamol Perry II, 38, a special education teacher at Passaic High School, surrendered himself to detectives at the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office in Totowa, N.J., according to authorities.

Prosecutors say Perry, who was also an assistant coach of the high school’s track team, assaulted a female student at the high school in 2006.

The now 22-year-old alleged victim was coached by Perry, prosecutors said.

Perry is charged with one count of sexual assault, one count of endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of official misconduct.

A call for comment from Perry’s attorney was not immediately returned.
