A 49-year-old Summerville school teacher accused of touching a 14-year-old girl inappropriately at Dubose Middle school will be appealing to get his job back, according to his attorneys.
William Brown is currently out on bond after he was charged with second-degree assault and criminal solicitation of a minor. Dorchester school officials say Brown has been recommended for termination and is not allowed on the school’s campus.
On May 10, deputies received a call about a Dubose Middle School teacher making inappropriate comments to one of his 14-year-old female students. According to the affidavit, Brown told the victim to return to his classroom during a later period to engage in sexual acts with him.
Investigators say they were then called to the scene and uncovered additional information that the student was actually touched by the teacher in an inappropriate manner. After conducting several interviews and meeting with the solicitor’s office, investigators obtained arrest warrants for Brown, who was arrested at his home on May 11.
Brown was an English teacher and has worked at the school for three years.
