IUP student teacher charged with sexual assault

State police at Indiana have accused an Indiana University of Pennsylvania student teacher with sexually assaulting a female student in one of his classes.

Police said Timothy Lewis, 22, of Latrobe, had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female from Derry who was a student in a music class Lewis was teaching at Derry Area High School.

Police said the sexual acts occurred at 1366 Waverly Drive, Unity Township, Westmoreland County, and at 1148 Washington St., Indiana, between March 5 and 18.

Lewis was charged with institutional sexual assault and corruption of minors and released on $25,000 bond.
