A La Vernia High School teacher has been arrested and charged with having sexual relations with a student.
Taylor Vader was taken into custody and booked this weekend, according to Wilson County Jail officials.
He is charged with sexual assault of a child, and improper relationship between a teacher and a student.
The school district’s website lists Vader as a physics and anatomy teacher, as well as a tennis coach.
Vader has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation, according to a letter from La Vernia Independent School District Superintendent José H. Moreno to the community.
The letter also stated that the La Vernia Police Department is conducting a full investigation.
The La Vernia chief of police said a news conference will be held Monday to address the arrest and charges.
