New charges are expected Thursday against the Austin school district elementary teacher who has been accused of sexual assault of a student, officials said.

Alfredo Andrade-Gaytan, 33, had been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child in an incident involving a 6-year-old student at Reilly Elementary School in North Central Austin on June 11.

After being released on $50,000 bail, he was arrested in Brenham last weekend on to two counts of indecency with a child from incidents at Walnut Creek Elementary, where he was a third-grade bilingual teacher in 2012, according to police.

The new charges of indecency with a child by exposure will be filed Thursday, police chief Eric Mendez said.

Officials did not have more details on the new charges. Mendez said that the Travis County district attorney’s office is working to raise the bail on the aggravated sexual assault charge and that an increase on the indecency charges bail will be decided by the grand jury.

Police said they have received five allegations against Andrade-Gaytan and two are still under investigation.

Jail records show Andrade-Gaytan was in custody Wednesday afternoon with a bail set at $200,000 for the indecency charges.
