A Northern California elementary school teacher has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing students. Richmond police took Ron Guinto into custody on Wednesday. He faces multiple charges including lewd acts on a child under 14, oral copulation and assault to commit sodomy.
Police say an investigation into the allegations began after two students attending a Richmond charter school where Guinto previously taught told police about possible sexual misconduct.
Police issued an arrest warrant after learning the 32-year-old Guinto was teaching at another school in Richmond.
West Contra Costa Unified School District spokesman Marin Trujillo says nothing came back on Guinto during a background check.
Guinto is being held on $1.4 million bail and has been placed on administrative leave.
