A-53-year-old teacher of a government middle school here was arrested today for the alleged sexual harassment of a tribal minor girl.
The parents of the 16-year-old girl, a class VI student of the institute, lodged a case against Abdul Hammid Siddique at Nayapura police station.
According to the complaint, Siddique on the pretext of having a discussion about her studies, called the teenager at an secluded location in the school building this afternoon.
Following which, the teacher launched a sexual assault on the girl, the complaint said.
The girl reached home and informed her parents about the incident.
A case under relevant sections of the IPC, SC/ST Act and PCSO Act has been registered against the teacher, who has been arrested, Circle Inspector Nayapura Gopichand Meena said.
The accused would be produced before the magistrate tomorrow, the police official said.
