Two men, including a former school teacher, and a woman have been jailed over the sexual assault of a Birmingham teenager. William Hanna, 63, and Dianne Whitehouse, 58, were found guilty of a number of charges relating to the assault of the 15-year-old girl.

The pair also posted images of some of the abuse on the internet, West Midlands Police said. Ian McGlasson, 47, pleaded guilty to 10 charges at a separate trial. Insp Sally Simpson, who led the investigation, said the “vulnerable” girl had “no idea what she was getting herself into”.

‘Taken seriously’

Ms Simpson said: “Tragically, because of her age and the fact she had been on internet chat rooms, she felt she could somehow be to blame for what happened to her.

“I hope this case highlights to other young people that action can be taken and it doesn’t matter how much trouble you think you’ve got yourself into, the police will listen to you and take you seriously.”

McGlasson, from Baron Court, Reading, Berkshire, was jailed for six years after admitting six counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of meeting a child following sexual grooming.

He also pleaded guilty to taking indecent photographs of a child and possessing indecent photographs of a child.

Former teacher Hanna, of Kings Langley, Hertfordshire, was found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child and one of causing or inciting involvement in pornography.

He was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Whitehouse, from Wellington Drive in Cannock, was given a six-year jail term for two counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of causing or inciting involvement in pornography.

All three were given sexual offences prevention orders and will sign the sex offenders register for life.
