KAYSVILLE, Utah — A former Kaysville charter school teacher and Weber State University adjunct instructor appeared in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing regarding charges of sexual misconduct with a student.
Stephen Niedzwiecki faces 11 charges in connection with his alleged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student. Niedzwiecki had been working as a girl’s basketball coach and teacher at Jefferson Academy when he met the teen.
Kathy Carver is a relative of the victim, and she said the teen came forward with the allegations to put a stop to the abuse. “The whole family is completely devastated and shocked and disappointed,” she said. “They opened their hearts and home to him. They shared their faith with him, and for this betrayal and this distrust, I mean you cannot believe how it just devastated our family.”
