Just days after a teacher in Peel Region was arrested for having sex with an underage prostitute, another faculty member from a school in the region faces allegations of engaging in inappropriate sexual behaviour with a teenage girl.
The victim, a 13 year-old girl, was previously a student of Lang’s, police said Monday.
“He is not a permanent teacher at the school,” said Carla Pereira, a Peel District School Board (PDSB) spokesman.
She said Lang was covering for another teacher who is on a long-term absence, but he has been removed pending the outcome of his charges.
According to police, Lang has worked at several PDSB schools in the past three years.
Prior to teaching at Cheyne, he taught at Fairwind Senior Public School, near Hurontario St. and Eglinton Ave. W.; and at Williams Parkway Senior Public School, near Williams Pkwy. and Bramalea Rd.
The alleged victim was in Lang’s class at Fairwind.
All three schools sent letters home to parents Monday alerting them of the situation.
“It’s scary,” Deidre Gayle said after learning a suspected predator was working in her child’s school.
She was still trying to digest the news as she waited out front of Cheyne to pick up her 13-year-old daughter after school.
“This hits really close to home,” she said.
Many parents said they talk to their kids regularly about such dangers, but the one place they expect them to be safe is in the classroom.
Another Brampton school sent a similar letter home Monday alerting parents of another teacher facing similar charges.
Alan Muliyil is accused of having sexual relation with a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly forced into the sex trade.
The 46-year-old is charged with obtaining sexual services from a person under 18, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching.
