SUTTONS BAY: A Traverse City teacher accused of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a student is expected to waive a preliminary examination in 86th District Court.

Lawyers for Lisa Placek and Leelanau County prosecutor agreed to waive the hearing set for Friday afternoon. They will formalize the waiver before Judge Thomas J. Phillips Friday morning, and the case will be bound over to 13th Circuit Court.

Placek, 45, is a former teacher and volleyball coach at Traverse City West Senior High School. She faces a single felony count of criminal sexual conduct after police said she had oral sex with a West sophomore boy, 15, in her vehicle in Elmwood Township on Dec. 31.

Placek is being held without bond in Leelanau County Jail.
